Dear Bnai Keshet Friends:

Thank you for your overwhelming expression of LOV!

We are pleased to announce the final results for the 5776 Living Our Values Campaign that concluded on December 31, 2015.
  • More than 50% of Bnai Keshet’s 280+ member families “invested” in a vibrant, inclusive BK by contributing to the campaign, exceeding our target participation goal.
  • This represents a 50% increase in member participation from the prior year – a significant one-year advancement!
  • Special acknowledgment is warranted for the sixty first-time LOV donors and forty-eight first-time Bnai Keshet donors who demonstrated that a strong culture of giving is, indeed, emerging here in our congregation.
  • With your individual and collective engagement and generosity, the campaign raised $68,280 for the congregation.
Pausing to reflect on our words to the congregation during Kol Nidre last September:

The challenge we face is that being an inclusive community does not happen by chance and does not come about without resources.  We, like every synagogue, church and mosque, cannot pay for all of the things we need to do to build the community we believe in from membership dues, religious school tuition and other fees alone.  While we have been an incredibly generous synagogue in the past when it comes to specific initiatives, like securing a building more than a decade ago and burning the mortgage just a few years ago, we have not had an regular tradition of annual communal giving at BK to support the ongoing initiatives we believe in.  Our commitment to both a fair share dues program and our inclusive approach welcoming all who seek to benefit from what BK offers… are essential parts of our inclusive community –  and necessitate generosity from within.

A sincere THANK YOU to the congregation for joining together to demonstrate broad sweeping generosity from within via LOV.  Together, we have made a significant impact.  And with this momentum, the stage is set to aspire towards 80%+ member LOV participation in the future.

Thank you also to the LOV Ambassadors - Roberta Elliott, Marty Fellner, Marian Golan, Craig Levine, Liz Lipner, Barbara Reisman Stephen Rodner, Luis Schuchinski, Rabbi Elliott Tepperman and Rabbi Ariann Weitzman - for your time, energy, commitment, counsel and enthusiasm throughout the campaign.

L’shalom,

Andy Schmeltz & Max Polaner
