Bnai Keshet National Refugee Shabbat Weekend Events Friday, March 20th and Sunday, March 22nd

In the face of unprecedented attempts to close America’s doors to those seeking freedom from violence and persecution, this is a critical moment to give voice to our values as Jews and as Americans. Over the weekend of March 20-22, 2020, as part of the National Refugee Shabbat initiated by HIAS (Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society), we will dedicate sacred time and space to refugees and asylum seekers. Events at BK are listed below:

Friday, March 20th from 6:30 - 9:30pm
Refugees in Detention: Community Education & Opportunities for Action

6:30pm dinner at BK prepared by recent refugees from Syria as part of United Tastes of America, on a sliding scale $30 - 50. Proceeds after the cost of dinner will be donated to First Friends NJ/NY to support their bond fund, which helps families of immigrants secure their release from detention pending their proceedings.

At 7:15pm, the program will begin with speakers including a formerly detained friend from First Friends of NJ/NY, table discussion around issues impacting refugees and asylum seekers, and ways to get involved in current community efforts.

Please choose your level of support and select the number of attendees from the drop-down box.
Tickets start at $30, and we encourage you to donate at the level you are able:
