Bikkur Cholim (Visiting the Sick)
Wednesday, December 3, 2014 • 11 Kislev 5775
8:00 PM - 9:30 PMDec. 3 &10: Practice, practice, practice. It’s not only the punchline to a joke about how you get to Carnegie Hall. It is what we do at BK and it is this year’s congregational theme. Accordingly, we will be putting our best Jewish values into practice by organizing a Bikkur Cholim Society, a group of volunteer congregants interested in visiting the sick.
As background to this age-old Jewish tradition, we are offering two 1.5 hour sessions on the textual basis for doing this mitzvah, along with some practical consideration for how to organize visitation at BK. At some point in our lives, each of us will most likely need a visit. The gift of visitation for someone who needs the solace of companionship during times of illness is the highest form of chesed. Please join us!
