I have the sad news to share that Willard "Vel" Sklar, father of BK member Jordan Sklar, passed away yesterday, July 7, 2016.

Married to Sydell since 1957, Vel was a beloved father, brother, grandfather, brother, and father-in-law. He was a dedicated teacher at Francis Lewis High School, in Fresh Meadows, Queens, for many years as it grew to become one of the City's largest and most successful high schools.  Vel knew something about everything, and was well known as an excellent story-teller, joke teller, history buff, and a lover of Judaism and the Jewish people. 

The memorial service will be on Monday, July 11^th at 1:00 p.m. at Gutterman's Funeral Chapel, 175 N. Long Beach Road, Rockville Centre, NY 11570.

Shiva will be held at Jordan and Andrea's home (14 Warren Place, Montclair) Monday, July 11^th through Thursday, July 14^th, beginning at 7:00 p.m. each evening, with a Shiva Minyan at 7:30 p.m.
