Bnai Keshet
A special screening of WEAPONS OF THE SPIRIT written, produced and directed by Pierre Sauvage, and performance by an interfaith choir. The service will start at 7 p.m. For more info click here . Stay after for our Yom HaShoah Observance reading names of those who were lost.
In remembrance of those lost in the Shoah, we will read aloud names of victims beginning at approximately 8PM following the Montclair Clergy Association Yom Hashoah service, being held at Bnai Keshet this year, which begins at 7:00 p.m., and continuing until approximately midnight.
While Jews were persecuted during this time in history, it is important to remember that gays and lesbians, as well as individuals with disabilities, were also targeted. Lists of names representing these groups will also be available for reading aloud. In addition we will have the names of 8,000 Muslim Males killed in 1995 by the Bosnian Serb Government & Army (followed by the Ethnic Cleansing of Screbrenica).
Any and all are welcome and encouraged to honor the memories of those who suffered. Sign up now or just come to pay respects. You may bring names of family members to read aloud, or share personal artifacts.
Also this Weekend, on Shabbat
Kaplan Minyan Featuring Rabbi Noach Shapiro, LCSW Torah and Transformation: the Dynamics of Change
Saturday, April 22nd at 10:30 am in Red Gables (Please enter Red Gables through the Sunroom door on the garden/driveway side of the building)
Through the prism of text and tradition, we will explore the question: What is the nature of personal and spiritual change or transformation? What inspires and drives change? What inhibits it? What wisdom does our tradition offer to spark and nourish our transformational journeys?
BIO: In this chapter of his professional adventure as a rabbi-therapist, Noach explores the powerful nexus of spiritual, therapeutic, and psychodynamic work–all toward personal, communal and even cosmic transformation.
