and stay for a reception to say thank you and farewell to Stuart Brown, our Director of Operations, after 6 years.
Paul Shatz, Co-President (Term Nov 1, 2018 - Oct 31, 2020) Paul and his wife Randi Simon joined Bnai Keshet in 1992. Paul had grown up attending Orthodox synagogues while Randi’s family did not belong to any synagogue. They started looking for a synagogue as they were in the process of adopting their first child, Loren. They liked that BK was progressive, egalitarian, warm, welcoming and hands on. It quickly became a home that they both felt very much a part of, and much of their social life revolves around people they met at BK.
They have had baby namings here and all three of their children had Bnai Mitzvahs at BK. The support of the BK community during Randi’s illness and after her passing was extraordinary, and Paul still cannot adequately express his gratitude.
Paul is currently an At-Large member of the Board of Trustees and has previously served as a Co-Chair of the School Committee, the VP of Education, and a member of the Finance Committee. He has always been involved in many events and activities at BK. Paul is an account manager in the technology industry, and enjoys kibbitzing, wise cracking and joking around.
In accordance with the staggered co-presidency model outlined by the Leadership Development Committee last year, Paul will serve on the Board as "Co-President Elect" from Nov 1, 2017 until the start of his Co-President term which begins on Nov 1, 2018.
Sha Lepore, VP for Tikkun Olam (Term July 1, 2017 - June 30, 2019) Sha and her husband Matt joined BK when they moved to Montclair in 2012, and can’t believe their luck at finding the perfect spot to plant their Jewish family tree. Their children have benefitted from BK’s bet midrash, with Elias having had his bar mitzvah last spring, and Owen and Clio not far behind. The relationships they have formed at BK have been integral to making Montclair feel like home. Sha is currently an At-Large member of the Board of Trustees and in her time at BK she has served as a member of both the Education and Membership committees, and is looking forward to blending her interest in various social justice and political causes with her commitment to the BK community. Sha’s favorite things to do are watch her kids’ sporting and theater events and travel.
Michael Solomon, VP for Development Term July 1, 2017 - June 30, 2019) Michael Solomon is an established entrepreneur with a strong desire to help people, a sharp eye for business, and a commitment to making a difference. Bringing decades of experience managing musicians, directors, and other creative entities to the technology sector, Michael currently runs 10x Management, a company he co-founded. Michael has a passion for personal and professional growth and makes it his mission to optimize himself and all of his diverse endeavors, which include helping found two nonprofit organizations. A born and bred Manhattanite, Michael moved to Montclair, NJ in 2014 with his awesome wife, Jenny, and two fantastic kids, Lucy and Rainen and joined BK the same year.
Amy Josephson,VP for Finance (Term July 1, 2017 - June 30, 2019) Amy Josephson and her husband, Sheldon Kugelmass, moved to Montclair in 2003. They joined BK in 2009 after realizing that every time they visited BK, they ran into more and more families that they already knew ... and liked. BK has continued to provide a deeply felt sense of Jewish community for their family. Emma (15) celebrated her Bat Mitzvah in 2015 and Jacob (11) has his Bar Mitzvah on the calendar for 2018. Amy has worked in banking for longer than she’d like to admit and is looking forward to applying her finance background in service to the BK community.
