With sadness, I have to share that Norma Kwas Meador, a long-time member of Bnai Keshet, died suddenly on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Mountainside Hospital. Norma and her husband Hy Meador Z"L were instrumental in the founding of BK.
Born to the late Benjamin and Nellie Kwas, who for many years owned and operated Benjamin’s Flowers on Grove Street in Upper Montclair, Norma was a graduate of Montclair High School and Centenary College. For years she was a buyer in the New York City fashion industry, working for Best & Company and then Bonwit Teller, later establishing her own women’s fashion retail business, Private Label.
Since college days she was an ardent tennis player and later became an accredited Professional Tennis Instructor with the USPTA and owner of Ace Tennis, providing instruction at several racquet clubs and teaching tennis in the Montclair School System. As a member of Bradford Bath and Tennis Club, she participated in many tournaments there.
Norma is survived by her Sister Bernice (and Ronald) Gollhardt, her niece Cynthia (and Kenneth) DeVries, grandniece Stacy (and Benjamin) DiLorenzo, and grandnephews Timothy (and Cassie) DeVries and Dr. Gregory DeVries.
