Margaret Fellner, mother of BK member Marty Fellner, passed away yesterday, January 18, 2016, at the age of 91.
Margaret, nee Unsdorfer, was born in 1924 in a small village in Eastern Hungary. She was the second eldest of 5 children. They were 4 sisters and one brother; raised in the house by their grandparents while their mother and father worked together in the dry goods store that was their business. The family did well and Margaret was proud of her father’s reputation as a trusted and successful grain merchant in the community.

Her sister Edith described Margaret as the strong one who held it together in the worst of times. Margaret herself never really talked much about her experiences during the Holocaust. She was a tough woman who wanted her children to be good Jews and to remember where they came from. She is the last of her family’s generation to have survived the Shoah. She was married to Louis Fellner for 43 years before he passed away in 2002. She is survived by her children, Larry, Martin and Barbara; their spouses Amy, Laurie and Eddie; her grandchildren: Samantha, Daniel, Michael, Henry, Aviad and Nediva.
Margaret was buried today at Beth David cemetery on Elmont Long Island. Marty will sit Shiva at his sister’s house on Wednesday and Thursday.
Shiva will be held in Montclair at Marty and Laurie's house (106 Gates Avenue) on Saturday and Sunday, January 23 and January 24, beginning at 7pm with a Shiva Minyan at 7:30pm.
