D'var Torah by Jordan Herskowitz, the incoming Interim Upper School Principal at Golda Och Academy in West Orange. Throughout his nine-year tenure at GOA, Jordan has served as Dean of Students, Arts Department Chair, and Tefillah Coordinator. He chairs the LGBTQ Faculty Inclusion Committee and is the advisor to the LGBTQ high school club. From 2015-17, GOA was selected to participate in Keshet’s Leadership Project, where the school made policy and procedural changes to foster a more welcoming and inviting school environment for LGBTQ students, parents, and staff. Raised in Dallas, Texas, Jordan received his BA in Theatre and Minor in Judaic Studies from The University of Tulsa in Oklahoma. Following graduation, he toured internationally with his autobiographical one-man show, Growing Up Jordy Pordy.
