Rabbinic Student Intern

Rani Silverman-Gitin is thrilled to be Bnai Keshet's Rabbinic Student Intern this upcoming school year. They grew up in a traditional Jewish community in Central Jersey, where they fell in love with Jewish ritual, community, and text study. They studied Religion and Sociology at Bryn Mawr College, where they were president of their campus Hillel. Rani has since served as a community organizer, service-leader, and Jewish educator for several organizations. Before entering rabbinic school, they were the New York Education and Training Manager for Keshet - a national organization advancing LGBTQ+ inclusion and equality in Jewish life. Rani has just completed their first year at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College, during which they taught religious school at Germantown Jewish Centre in Philadelphia and interned with Congregation Or Haneshamah in Ottawa, Canada. Rani is a proud trans nonbinary and disabled Jew, and approaches everything they do with the lense of inclusivity. They reside with their spouse, Sy, their beautiful cat- Babka, and incredible service dog- Caleb.
