We will look together at women who have challenged traditional ideas about God and Jewish community as well as challenging the structures of authority and the transmission of Jewish knowledge in the modern Jewish world. We'll be starting with a discussion of Rachel Adler, the author of Engendering Judaism, a critique and expansion of halakhah (Jewish law) on feminist terms. Rabbi Ariann will be talking deeply about Adler's later work, but you might be interested in re-reading one of her earlier essays, “The Jew Who Wasn't There,”  Or you could watch this great (short) video of her.

Jewish & College Bound?

Going to College with Strong Convictions and an Open Mind - Saturday, February 4th at 7PM

Whether discussing national politics or issues in Israel, we often find ourselves in positions that can be polarizing. When we can meet on common ground and engage in constructive dialogue that progress is made and peace can be found.

Come to a teen-only, pre-college event on Saturday, February 4th at 7pm

This event is not going to be about what to think, but rather how to think. You'll get to eat, schmooze with friends (old and new) and ask questions of yourself about who you are as a Jew, where you are as a Jew, and how you might be a Jew - at home and away at school.

This workshop is free and open to every teen in the community, so bring a friend!  Click for more info ....
