8:00p Shpil, Klezmer! A Cultural Phenomenon of Jewish America in the Late 20th Century
Ethnomusicologist and BK member Marion Jacobson tells the story of how the “klezmer revival” sparked a worldwide renaissance in Jewish music and culture that left Jewish religious leaders (other than Reconstructionists!) scratching their heads with amazement. The presentation will be amply illustrated with images, musical examples, and stories from Marion’s ethnographic research in klezmer “hotspots” from YIVO to Krakow.

will be held at BK, and not at someone's home. That's because we are anticipating a larger crowd than usual. We are both privileged and delighted to announce that the editor of LILITH, Susan Weidman Schneider, will be joining us for this special salon.

Join local food educators and get a taste of what it means to use healthy food to fight hunger

Eat a fresh, hot meal made from scratch by Toni's Kitchen. Hear from Toni's manager Anne Mernin and food activist and Livingston High School teacher Chris Bickel about how using healthy food improves people's lives.
